Beach Seine with Ucluelet Aquarium

Oh the life in our backyard!  A net, chest waders, some biologist friends, and you have seining for sea creatures.  Join Ucluelet Aquarium staff for some actual Aquarium-bound specimen collection at Terrace Beach in Ucluelet.

This will be a button event with fun for the whole family.  Buttons will be available on site.  Boots and proper outerwear are recommended.

Parks Canada - Wild Pacific Trail

Amphitrite Lighthouse

Join the Parks Canada Outreach team at the lighthouse along the Wild Pacific Trail to learn how you can help keep wildlife wild!  

And, of course, you may be able to see whale spouts as they pass by these shores in their annual migration.  Bring your binoculars and grab a bench along the trail.  Then watch the show.

This will be a whale festival button event and buttons will be available on site.

Pacific Rim Arts Society will be putting on a display of art to view and available for purchase.  Artists will be visiting through the week.  Free to enter and there will be a free raffle as well.

SIMRS Build-a-Whale

Join Strawberry Isle Marine Research Society and Parks Canada for an afternoon of reconstructing a real Killer Whale skeleton! Build-A-Whale is an interactive program that allows participants to help rebuild the skeleton of an offshore Killer Whale bone-by-bone while learning about the biology, ecology, anatomy, evolution, and conservation of killer whales and other marine mammals. There will be an opportunity for whale cookie decorating and Face Painting by Paula for all kids, sponsored by Gray Whale Deli in Ucluelet.  The Parks Canada Outreach team will have a booth set up, as well.  Feel free to ask these groups about the local marine ecosystems and marine mammals.
