WPTS - Pass of Melfort Shipwreck interpretive walk

Hear local interpreter and naturalist Silva Johannson tell this intriguing but tragic story.  Presented courtesy of the Wild Pacific Trail Society. 

Please note that the walk will start at the trail head in the Whale lot which can be reached via the road to the Amphitrite lighthouse.  Watch for the whale sign.  There is a map on the WPTS site, also.

This will be a button event for the whole family.  Buttons will be available at the start of the walk.

Skookum John lives off-grid with his wife at Yarksis, the ancestral home of his father's family on Vargas Island. Skookum relies on the ocean for his food, travel and income, and places great value on its protection for the next 7 generations.

Ian Riddick of Heartwood Kitchen in Ucluelet has prepared a special Pacific Rim Whale Festival menu for this event, featuring fire-roasted wild sockeye salmon, Vancouver Island greens, fresh bannock, kelp chocolate mousse and more.  Enjoy a taste of the west coast in a pleasant atmosphere as prepared by our own celebrity chef.  And enjoy the tunes of locals Geoff Johnson and Tara Lightnin' while you dine.

Cost of this supper will be $55; seating is limited to 40 guests.  A cash bar will also be available.  All COVID safety protocols for indoor dining will be in place.
