Tuesday March 24, 2020 : 11:00 am - 1:00 pm
Eagle Aerie Gallery - Tofino

Storytelling with Roy Henry Vickers is an elevating experience that transcends all cultural boundaries and brings a sense of peace and wonder to all who are fortunate enough to enjoy his many tales of life.  Roy will walk through selected works, share stories of inspiration and give people a glimpse into the life lessons that he has learned and that his ancestors have passed on to him. He also enjoys getting everyone involved in a sing-a-long or traditional chant to boost spirits and have some fun. All who are lucky enough to take in this special event, leave with a new found sense of appreciation for friends, family, nature, and all the little things that inspire us from day to day.

Storytelling will start at 11am with autographing to follow at noon. Please come 10 minutes early to find a good seat. This is a free event and everyone is welcome!  Wear your Pacific Rim Whale Festival Button in support of the festival.

Southern Resident Killer Whales

Tuesday March 24, 2020 : 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
Ucluelet Aquarium

Southern Resident Killer Whales typically spend the summer and fall months in the Salish Sea and are frequently seen off the west coast of Vancouver Island, including areas within Pacific Rim National Park Reserve (right in our own backyard!). However, with only 73 individuals remaining in the population, Southern Resident Killer Whales are currently listed as endangered under the Species at Risk Act. Join Parks Canada Marine Ecologist, Jennifer Yakimishyn and Public Outreach Education Officer, Rachel Schoeler to learn more about these endangered animals, what Parks Canada is doing to protect them, as well as actions you can take to help. By adopting good practices in our daily lives and when we navigate in the water, we all contribute to protection efforts. Your participation is vital.
